My Hope and My Joy

I believe in the future of this country! I believe that life holds great and grand opportunities for us. iStock_000039504068_LargeNow don’t get me wrong. I have had my fair share of frustration and depression with the choices being made in society these days. I mean there’s a lot of crazy stuff going on in the world and there was a time when I wondered where to find hope. Then something miraculous happened and two years later it happened again. Now I wake up in the mornings and I see cherubic faces and halos of platinum hair and I am struck by the sensation of hope for the future. My fair hope for the future is in the eyes of my children, and I’m going to live my life with vigor and verve knowing that I have something to live for!

What Does This Have to do With DIY?

I want what’s best for my kidlets and I want to give them a wonderful childhood. All the same I believe that materialism is not the answer. SO! Why not wrangle up that elbow grease and creativity and make our lives what we want them to be? With my kids in tow I’ve been DIYing for many years now and I have discovered as they grow that every new phase in their lives brings a new challenge and opportunity for the DIYer.

If you’ve always looked longingly through the window of the Internet and wished that you had what it takes to be a DIYer Happy family painting wall in green.I hope I can inspire you to stop wishing and start acting! DIY isn’t a destination, it’s a journey of growth. The reality is, we’re all climbing a ladder to something. Some of us may think we’re climbing a ladder to success, some of us climb the ladder to the roof, and all of us are climbing our ladders to heaven. Wherever we are along the way ladders are meant for one purpose to lift us up so we can build, repair, or do maintenance work on our lives.

So mount upon your ladder of progress and start climbing. Begin with the small steps: little creative crafts, knitting or crocheting, yard care. Then climb up a bit higher: house maintenance, upgrades and repurposing renovations. And soon enough you’ll find yourself in the thick of it! Self-reliant, creative, and busy with everything you intend to do yourself!
